4-H organization is sponsored by the Extension Service.
There are 12 clubs for both boys and girls, serving 230 Palo Alto
county youth. Their purpose is to teach student life skills and other
educational purposes. There are several clubs, such as Shooting Sports,
Horse Club, and Clover kids for K-3 grade. The highlight of the year
is the Palo Alto County Fair in July. |

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare
young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling
in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Scouting is learning
new skills, being a team member, having fun outdoors, and fostering
the initiative to grow and learn. |

Cub Scouting includes a variety of fun and exciting
activities for boys in the first through fifth grades. Cub Scouts
can provide the opportunity for boys to adopt and live by standards
that will serve as a cornerstone for success in life, such as developing
responsibility, maturity, and leadership. |

The Girl Scout program can help girls learn the importance

| Golf Program
for Juniors |

This summer program is offered to youth 14 years
and under from the Emmetsburg School District who want to learn to
play golf. Youth meet four Mondays in June with adult instructors
at the Golf Course to learn the basics of golf, such as swinging,
putting, etiquette, etc. This free program is sponsored by the Smith
Foundation. Over 70 kids participated this year. |
| Swim Team |

Swim Team is an independent swimming program with
two seasons. Summer season runs in June-July and they participate
in Swim Meets on Wednesdays. This is for ages 3-18. The Winter season
runs October-April with Saturday Swim Meets and is YMCA sanctioned.
There is no age limit. Swimmers use the Wellness Center for their
swim meets and practice. |

The purpose of Little League is to provide a safe
and fun recreation and competition to baseball and softball players
between pre-school and 8th grade. The season runs May, June, and part
of July. All games are played in the Field of Dreams complex on 25th
Street. This is a non-profit organization run by the parents and other
volunteers. |

This independent, non-profit organization sponsors
a youth wrestling club for student K-8. Their new facility has been
built with donated funds. The group participates in AAU tournaments
in April. |

Party. The group has speakers, sponsors a dance, and makes trips to
the capital in Des Moines. |

After School Program for kids ages K-4th Grade, held every Monday for 12 weeks in the Fall and 12 weeks in the Spring. Kids will enjoy kickball, softball, running, catching, dodging, and tagging. Each week we’ll have a different theme with different games, craft projects, movies, and snack. Our leaders create a structured, but FUN environment!
