Grotto of the Redemption

The Grotto of the Redemption is located at West Bend, Iowa, which is about 25 miles southeast of Emmetsburg. It is the largest Grotto in the world. Frequently called "the Eighth Wonder of the World", the Grotto represents the largest collection of minerals and petrifaction concentrated in any one spot, in the world. The Grotto represents in stone the whole story of the fall of woman and man, the Divine redemption through Christ, and Mary's presence in the redemptive process.

The Grotto is open from May 1st to October 15th. Large groups are asked to write or call to make reservation (515-887-2371). Bus tours and school groups need to make reservations for a tour guide if you plan to come before May 1st or after October 15th. More information
