University of Iowa, RN-BSN Program

The University of Iowa sponsors an RN-BSN program which is located at Iowa Lakes Community College, Emmetsburg campus. The RN-BSN program allows Registered Nurses the opportunity to earn a Bachelors Degree in Nursing while continuing to live and work in their local communities.

Most students find it advantageous to combine enrollment in the local community college with courses offered by The University of Iowa in distance education formats. This allows the University of Iowa to offer the RN-BSN program in its entirety to students in northwest Iowa and across the state.

Students' learning experiences in the distant sites are facilitated by a University of Iowa Regional Faculty Coordinator located at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg and Spencer. The Faculty Coordinator offers advising to students in the nursing major, teaches in the program, and coordinates access to clinical and educational resources, both locally and with The University of Iowa.

Students can begin the process of attaining a BSN by having their transcript critiqued. Transcripts should be sent to RN-BSN Program Office, 392 Nursing Bldg, The University of Iowa, Iowa City IA 52242.
