Prairie Lakes AEA
Area
Education Agencies work as educational partners with public and accredited,
nonpublic schools to help students, school staff, parents and communities.
AEAs provide special education support services, media and technology
services, a variety of instructional services, professional development
and leadership to promote school improvement.
Iowa's AEAs are widely regarded as one of the foremost
regional service systems in the country, offering programs that can be
provided most equitably, efficiently and economically on a regional or
cooperative basis among school districts. Programs and services fall under
nine state standards on which AEAs are accredited.

Prairie Lakes AEA 8 (Area Education Agency) is the result
of the merger of Lakeland AEA 3 and Arrowhead AEA 5, which took place
in 2003.
This agency assists 36,000 students and serves 48 public schools and
17 nonpublic schools. It supports over 5,000 educators in north central
Iowa. The Agency partners with its districts through an innovative service
delivery plan, Integrated Systems. Northwest Iowa Media, Print & Production
is an agreement between three northwest Iowa AEAs (AEAs 4, 8 and 12)
to provide those types of services to school districts across northwest
Iowa and the state.
Mission
The mission of Prairie Lakes AEA is to ensure success for all learners
through collaborative partnerships.
Iowa AEA
Iowa AEA Online is a wide array of educational resources funded and provided
by Iowa's Area Education Agencies. These resources are available to all
Iowa students and teachers. Includes Atomic Learning, Clipart.com, EBSCO,
Multimedia Archive and World Book Online.
