Palo Alto County Fair
The Palo Alto County Fair is a major event in Emmetsburg each year. It
is usually held at the end of July at the Fair 
Grounds,
located at the south end of Emmetsburg, and sponsored by the Palo Alto
County Extension Service. The Fair provides an opportunity for 4-H students
to display the projects they have been working on all year. Whether the
projects are craft items, photography, sewing, cooking, gardening, ducks,
chickens, rabbits, hogs, cattle, sheep, horses, or other pets, everyone
enjoys walking through the 4-H buildings to see what our young people
have accomplished and what awards have been given.
The entertainment each year is varied and includes performers, such as
jugglers, singers, groups, talent contests, baby crawl, tractor pulls,
demolition derby, livestock auction, etc. And of course there are always
a number of food stands serving delicious meals, often including home-made
pie and ice cream!
