Art & Audrey Smith Wellness Center
 Emmetsburg
has joined many communities in providing a Wellness Center to promote the health and well-being of its citizens. The Smith Wellness
Center is a multi-purpose recreational facility with an large indoor swimming pool, aerobics, cardiovascular, and weight-lifting
rooms, racquetball court, and locker rooms. In addition, the Public
and College Libraries, along with the Computer Lab,
the Genealogy Room, Senior Citizens Room, ICN Classroom, and several meeting rooms provide
many facilities for the community. The Gymnasium/Convention
Center provide space for large group meetings and activities, such as seminars
and graduation.
Education Programs
Program planning has been an important element of the
Smith Wellness Center. Seminars, wellness programs, youth activities,
after school programs, library programs, arts and crafts, summer programs,
and activities for youth, adults, and senior citizens are available. Continuing
Education classes from Iowa Lakes are offered all year long. Contact Iowa
Lakes Community College 712-852-3554 to suggest programming. The staff
is always willing to work with any group to provide for their needs.

Membership Fees
- Pay options – Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and
EFT Transfer is available to use through the college’s main office.
- Memberships are valid for a 12-month period from the
date of purchase. Memberships are nonrefundable
- The monthly fee is paid for a minimum of 12 months
through automatic withdrawal only.

Wellness Center Facilities

| Aerobics Room |
| |
Activities and classes such as aerobics, step aerobics,
pilates, and exercises classes are held in this room. It is equipped
with exercise balls, mats, assorted small weights, and DVD/VCR &
TV for tapes. |
| Cardiovascular Room |
| |
This room is equipped with 4 treadmills, 2 rowing
machines, 2 stair steppers, 2 recumbent bikes, and TV. Individuals
can use this equipment as desired. Children under 14 must be accompanied
by a parent. |
| Racquetball/Walleyball
Court |
| |
To use the Racquetball Court, call for reservations.
Walleyball equipment is also available. Children under 12 must be
accompanied by an adult or person over 18 years. |
| Weight Room |
| |
This is a completely equipped weight room. It has
a variety of weight machines, bar bells, treadmill, & TV. Children
under 14 must be accompanied by a parent. |
| Walking/Running
Track |
| |
Available in the gym, the track circles the outer
edge of the gym floor. |
| Gymnasium/ Conference
Center |
| |
The multipurpose gym, with a standard size basketball
floor, has a walking track, is used for games of all kinds, and is
equipped with volleyball equipment, tennis net, basketball hoops.
The gym is also used as a conference center and for large group meetings.
It can hold 800 people with chairs and stage. Or 400 people with tables,
chairs, and stage. It is equipped with a stage and PA system. |
| Swimming Pool |

The swimming pool is heated and has
a moveable bulkhead that allows 2 swimming areas. It includes a 3’
area, diving area, a zero-depth entrance ramp, an iceberg (climbing,
inflatable device). American Red Cross Swimming Lessons are offered
several times a year. There are summer and winter swim team programs.
A lifeguard is on duty at all times. |

The Wellness Center provides both Men’s and
Women’s Locker Rooms with lockers and shower facilities. |

the Smith Wellness Center and is available to everyone to use. |

Room available for Senior Citizen activities and

Contains historic records useful for genealogical
purposes. Maintained by the Genealogical Society. |
| ICN Classroom |
| |
Part of the Iowa Communications Network, it is equipped
with Fiber Optic TV equipment. Used for classes that originate from
other locations. |
| Conference Rooms |
| |
Conference rooms are available for groups who wish
to meet and for seminars. |
| Computer Lab |
| |
Computer Room in the Library that is available to
students and the public. It is equipped with access to the Internet
and email. |
| Public and College
Libraries |
| |
Emmetsburg Public Library and Iowa Lakes Library,
Emmetsburg Campus, provide a combined facility with services to both
students and the public. |
