Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities is the agent that provides water, natural gas, and sewer services to the City of Emmetsburg. It is municipally owned and operated by the Municipal Utilities Board as established by the Emmetsburg City Council.

SERVICES AND RATE SCHEDULE

Gas Department - Effective November 15, 2005

Service Charge:   $7.00 Per Month

First 2,000 Cubic Feet  @  1.471 per 100 Cubic Feet
Next 3,000 Cubic Feet  @  1.441 per 100 Cubic Feet
Over 5,000 Cubic Feet  @  1.411 per 100 Cubic Feet

PGA FACTOR is determined each month and added or subtracted per 100 Cubic Feet.

Water Rates - Effective March 15, 2007

Base Charge:  $8.25 Per Month

     0-600,000 Gallons       @  2.70 Per 1,000 Gallons
     Over 600,000 Gallons  @  1.30 Per 1,000 Gallons

Residential Customers Outside City Limits:
Base Charge:  $12.38 Per Month

     0-600,000 Gallons       @  4.05 Per 1,000 Gallons
     Over 600,000 Gallons  @  1.95 Per 1,000 Gallons

Sewer Rates - Effective January 15, 2007

Base Charge:  $10.00 Per Month

     $2.50 Per 1,000 Gallons
     After Feb 1, 2009: $3.11 Per 1,000 Gallons

Residential Customers Outside City Limits:
Base Charge:  $15.00 Per Month

     $3.75 Per 1,000 Gallons

Residential Customers are given a break on sewer in the summer months (May 15 to September 15) where the water consumption is averaged for 8 months and the customer is charged the actual consumption or the average amount, whichever is less.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees was established by the City Council for the purpose of operating and maintaining a municipally-owned utility for the citizens of Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Gas, Water and Sewer Utilities are operated under the same guiding principles which follow:

• To provide the highest quality and most reliable service possible, at the lowest reasonable costs, consistent with sound business practices.
• To maintain adequate and necessary revenues and reserves, in order to provide and maintain up-to-date facilities and equipment.
• To employ capable staff, with strong work ethics and high technical skills, and provide for their ongoing training, safety and equipment needs.
• To strive for continued growth and development of both the utility and the community, utilizing all appropriate technologies, resources, and strategies.
