Highways:  Emmetsburg is located at the intersection of Highways 4 and 18 in northwest Iowa.  (In Emmetsburg, it is the intersection of Broadway and Main Streets.)  Highway 4 is a major north-south highway, while Highway 18 is a major east-west highway.  In addition, Palo Alto County has a plentiful supply of black-top and concrete county roads at frequent intervals.

Airport:  The Emmetsburg Municipal Airport (EGQ) is located on the west side of Emmetsburg. It is a small airport for use of small planes. It has Fuel-100LL, Rotating Beacon, pcc surfaced runway – 13/31 20’ wide x 3,401’ length, turf runway – 17/35 150’ wide x 2,170’ length, Unicom-122.8, NBD-410.00 (EGQ), vor-110.00 (SPW). Call the airport at 712-852-3810. Ft. Dodge Regional (FOD) Airport (52 miles) and Mason City Municipal (MCW) airport (95 miles) are the area airports with carrier planes.

Railroad:  Emmetsburg is fortunate to have two railroads that criss-cross through Palo Alto County, providing flexibility on shipping destinations.  They are The Union Pacific Railroad (1-800-870-8777) out of Omaha, NE and the Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad (563-873-3483) of Marquette, IA.  Poet Biorefining and AGP, two of our major commodities-based businesses, elevators, and value-added agricultural businesses are served by these rail lines.
