Senior Citizens Services
RSVP Volunteer Program
Sponsored by Iowa Lakes Community College
RSVP is a national program, sponsored in Northwest Iowa by Iowa Lakes Community College. The mission of RSVP is to recruit and place volunteers 55 and older to meet community needs through service opportunities. RSVP volunteers serve at public and government agencies, with non-profit organizations, and with individuals in need of assistance.
Although RSVP volunteers must be 55 and older, they can serve people of any age, from the very young to the elderly. RSVP volunteers provide a wide variety of services including: medical and other necessary transportation; tutoring and mentoring children in the schools; visiting or calling homebound elderly; assisting at public offices with clerical duties; helping with group projects such as bulk mailings; collating materials for various organizations; assisting with community events; or helping to host Career Days at Iowa Lakes Community College.
RSVP staff matches volunteer skills and interests with needs in the community. RSVP volunteers choose what they want to do and determine how much time they want to spend volunteering.
