Emmetsburg parents have a choice of childcare and preschools for their children, including three that are sponsored by local churches.
St. Paul Christian Preschool
St. Paul Christian Preschool is a ministry of St. Paul Lutheran Church. It is a state-licensed facility with a maximum enrollment of twenty students. Classes for four and five year olds meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30-11:00 a.m.. It is located at 805 Harrison Street.

Teachers Sharon Neighbors and Fay Wojahn are dedicated to serving the children of the Emmetsburg area with love and care. Using the expertise gained from years in kindergarten classrooms, they provide a wide variety of quality early childhood experiences within a nurturing Christian environment. Using the best of developmentally appropriate tools, they help the children learn to relate to other children and adults and grow in their skills and abilities.

Little Learners Childcare Center
Little Learners Childcare Center is a state-licensed childcare center and preschool. They offer child care for children ages 4 weeks through 8 years of age, before and after school care, and a 3-5 year old preschool program. Their hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The childcare center offers a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities for every child, including a complete curriculum for infant through preschool age children. They focus on caring and nurturing a child’s growth as well as teaching children at the same time.
Little Learners has qualified, experienced staff who look forward to learning with the children each day. Some funding for parents is available through PAK Empowerment and some from DHS. The childcare center participates in the state food program and offers nutritious, delicious meals and snacks. They also have a playground on site and offer transportation to and from school.

Emmetsburg Catholic School sponsors the Little Irish Preschool. The school is designed for four and five year olds. They meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Some funding is available through PAK Empowerment and state grants.
Started in 2003, its purpose is to give preschool children a Christian education and to prepare them with a strong foundation. The Catholic Diocese is focused on giving kids a Christian background. The Emmetsburg Head Start program is located at Iowa Lakes Community college, on the Emmetsburg campus. It serves 3-5 year olds and meets Monday through Friday from 8:10 a.m. to 3:15 pm. This program offers WRAP Around Child Care for children with working parents or parents who are taking college classes. This program is federally funded and offers breakfast and lunch. There are frequent parental conferences.
The purpose of Head Start is to provide a preschool education to children from low-income families. Call 712-852-5352 for more information.

Noah’s Ark Preschool serves 4-5-year-old children between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday through Fridays, while 3-year olds meet from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Located at the New Hope Community Chapel at 3404 First Street, the school has grown considerably since its opening. Their main focus is to offer quality child care. They participate with Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards, set up by the state. Partial funding for preschoolers is through PAK Empowerment, DHS, and grants.
The preschool was developed originally as an idea by the New Hope congregation to utilize their church building and give back to the community by providing quality childcare and preschool education. For more information, call 712-852-2858.
